Olympic hockey fans in America are bummed out at the Canadian upset. USA is out of gold medal contention. With a score of 1-0, the Canadians advance to the gold medal game with Sweden. America will battle for the bronze against Finland. While the final Olympic games are set, there is no denying that the bet about Justin Bieber being given to the loser appears to be almost forgotten. According to US Weekly on Friday, the so-called bet was passed around on social media and the loser of the Olympic hockey game got to keep Justin Bieber.

So does that mean USA is now calling Justin Bieber a citizen?

The sign that started the joke about Justin Bieber is in Chicago. Seen by the world, the billboard has Justin Bieber between Chicago Blackhawks players Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews with the headline "Loser keeps Bieber.” While it was a prank at the beginning, now that Canada won the game everyone is asking if this means Justin Bieber is cool in America.

Perhaps it would have been a better choice to bet a case of beer or a tattoo of Rob Ford in a private place. Something a little less subtle than claiming one of the biggest music entertainers in the business. However it is too late for that and what is done could be final.

Honoring this bet from Olympic hockey means Justin Bieber is now American. Team USA better win the bronze medal and brush up on Bieber’s music because they might be hearing the music from fans who will playfully joke on what USA recently acquired. Thank goodness the bet started as a joke This means we can still technically reference Bieber as a Canadian.
