Olympic hockey fans watched a tough game on Friday when USA took on Canada in the semifinals. The two North American teams were expecting to battle, but America was really hoping that the win would advance the team to the Olympic hockey gold medal game. According to ESPN on Friday, it was Canada who won the game with a score of 1-0 and will move on to compete against Sweden.

The Canadians are on verge of picking up their third gold medal in four Olympics. A tough team to beat, there are few teams that can stop the power plays and give the needed scoring against the Canadians. While Sweden is a strong team, Canadian fans are already assuming that the Olympic gold medal will be hung around the Canadian players.

The win against America has everything to do with Canadian player Carey Price. He made 31 saves, and helped Canada beat the United States. The goalie was tough and repeatedly came to the team’s rescue when it was needed most.
While Canada will move on to the Olympic gold game, all is not lost for the Americans. They will play Finland for the Olympic bronze medal. The USA team only lost once in at Sochi, but it was at the worst time and the Canadian’s took advantage the moment.
