Olympic hockey allegiance in the North American continent can be defined by a thick line on a map. To the north there is Canada and the loyal fans who won't waiver on their support to the team. Further south there is America who has fans equally as passionate to their team. The great Olympic hockey rivalry on the North American continent continued on Friday. According to the Washington Post on Friday, Canada once again crushed America with a final score of 1-0.
While some viewers might dwell on the score of the game, the fans who arrived at the semifinals hockey at Bolshoy Ice Dome came to support the players. These diehards fans in Sochi were loud, colorful and one was a little scary with some intense face paint.
Whatever team of the Olympic hockey game fans decide to cheer on, there is no stopping the intensity of the commitment to the players and the country. Fans will scream until they have no voice, offer advice until they run out and support the colors of the countries long after the game ends.
Take a look at the photo slideshow of some of the fans who went to Sochi to support American and Canadian hockey teams. We love the dude with the face paint. How he got that leaf to look so good is a question American fans will ponder forever.
