Olympic diver Tom Daley reveals his sexual preferences on YouTube

In response to being misquoted in an interview, British Olympic diver Tom Daley released a YouTube video Monday morning explaining his current relationship and sexual preferences.

Daley gave an interview to “The Daily Mirror” which they later entitled “Tom Daley: I am NOT gay but I don’t care if you think I am”. He decided to do the YouTube video to put an end to all the rumors and had no desire to once again be misquoted by any news source.

He explains in the video he was after angry and frustrated after reading the article. He describes the spring of 2013 when his “life changed”; he met someone and “that someone is a guy”. He also explains that he still “fancies” girls but for now he is happy in his relationship.

He doesn’t think any of his video confession is a big deal but knows the world will make it into one; of course they did. The video has already received nearly one million views in its first eight hours and response has been largely positive by those commenting on YouTube.

“You are such an amazing person, this must of been hard to make :D I hope you are very happy with your partner!

“Kudos to you! Life is a beautiful thing and we should be able to share that beauty with those we care about and love, regardless of sex. Rock on, Tom!”

Those negative responses to his confession are hateful slurs calling him gay. They obviously didn’t watch the video or read anything; he is bisexual.

With each coming out video by celebrities and athletes the need to make a spectacle of one person’s sexuality will eventually die off. Daley explains it best when he says “in an ideal world I wouldn’t be doing this video because it shouldn’t matter”.
