South African Olympian, Oscar Pistorius, has always been known as the “Blade Runner” has always been famous due to have no legs, but it looks like he may become famous for other reasons. According to the Chicago Tribune on Feb. 14, Pistorius was charged today for murdering his girlfriend.
Reeva Steenkamp was found dead in the upmarket Silverlakes gated community in Pretoria. A spokeswoman for the police said a 9 mm pistol was found at the scene and a 26 year old man had been taken into custody. Suspects are not identified in South Africa until they have been charged.
It is unclear exactly what happened to have caused Pistorius to shoot his girlfriend of over a year. There seemed to be no apparent problems and even Steenkamp’s last tweets indicated they were doing fine. One of her last posts stated:
“What do you have up your sleeve for you love tomorrow???”
Oscar Pitorius was born with a fibula in both legs and was the first double amputee to run in the Olympics. Oscar reached the 400 meter semi-finals in London 2012.
