In what might turn out to be the greatest story that you're going to read all week, Oliver Stone has suggested that Shia LaBeouf should 'f--- himself' after the actor tried to give Oliver Stone some script advice on the set of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. It'd be great if we could just leave it at that, but if you need the details, we've got 'em for you below, my fellow film geeks...
We're just days away from Oliver Stone's Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps arriving in theaters, and Gordon Gekko fans couldn't be more excited. The continuation of Gekko's story-- which began, of course, back in 1987's Wall Street-- features Shia LaBeouf in the Charlie Sheen role, and from the sound of things, LaBeouf must have really enjoyed working with Oliver Stone on the sequel to one of his biggest movies. Ha, just kidding, it sounds like Oliver Stone's a pain in the ass, and Shia LaBeouf (who once told Spielberg that he screwed up the Indiana Jones franchise) isn't afraid to say as much in public.
At the Wall Street 2 premiere, LaBeouf told reporters the following anecdote. See if you can spot the part where Oliver Stone's a massive pain in the ass:
“We’re in the Adirondacks, and Josh Brolin and I are shooting this bike scene. And at one point I say to Josh a line — ‘You should look at yourself in the mirror first and see yourself. It might scare you,’” remembered LaBeouf. “I looked at the line for a couple of months and thought I’d go to Oliver and say, ‘You look at the mirror and look at yourself. It’s sort of repetitive. Why don’t we just cut one of those? Why don’t I say, Look at yourself. It might scare you.’ This is Oliver verbatim. He looks at me and goes, ‘I like mirror. I wrote Scarface. Go f*ck yourself.’”
Huh. On the one hand, LaBeouf's right: that's a terrible line. On the other hand, Oliver Stone's right: Shia LaBeouf should, in fact, f--- himself, and he did write Scarface. Difficult to decide who to side with on this one, isn't it? Let's call it a draw for the time being, and wait and see how good or bad Wall Street 2 is before we pick teams. Stay tuned for more Wall Street 2, Oliver Stone, and Shia LaBeouf news (who will Shia tell off next?) as it all becomes available, my fellow film geeks.
