Olive leaf extract and your health

When you think of olive oil, does the word healthy come to mind? It should, it is a natural health product. The health benefits of olive oil include longevity and prevention of chronic illnesses when used consistently. The Mediterranean diet, we know is healthier than the average American diet. Healthy Mediterranean cooking may lower high cholesterol, hypertension, ear infections, arthritis, and even gallbladder disease.

Now, think about olive leaf; what comes to mind? Olive leaf precedes olive oil. Research has shown that olive leaf is a fine antioxidant. That makes sense and both are inherently good, yes? The Comvita Company has taken the healthy olive one-step further in bottling olive leaf extract. Olive leaf extract is not the same as any olive oil. The extract is a dark brown, light, not heavy liquid. The taste is not bad but the first time taken the sensation of taste is neutral. Swallow a teaspoon of the extract and it is something appealing. The taste of a plant, or a leaf, is a light flavor.

Well, olive oil contains fatty acids. These acids decrease in cholesterol levels. The benefits seem to be quite similar in both, olive oil and extract.

The Comvita Company selling Olive Leaf Extract as a dietary supplement support studies that show what we eat determines our health. Comvita professes to harness the power of nature in their extract.

A one-month supply of Comvita Olive Extract sells for $29.59 online. I recommend registering on the website for a discount. Olives, to be edible, must cure. Cured foods have many health benefits including high levels of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber. That in itself is a good reason to eat olives.

Regarding health benefits, no olive is more, or less healthy to consume. Moderation in everything, of course, a serving of olives or olive leaf extract daily can only do a body good. Comvita recommends adults take two or three teaspoons of extract per day with food. There is no good reason not incorporate olive oil extract into your diet. If price is a consideration for your family, cook more in olive oil or eat more olives in general.
