Oldies But Goodies (OBG) Cocker Rescue is holding its annual Bow Wow Bowl-a-thon fundraiser next weekend. OBG is a local non-profit rescue group that has been helping homeless and neglected cocker spaniels, cocker mixes, and "honorary cockers" for nearly 20 years. Susan Arango, Bow Wow Bowl-a-thon coordinator and OBG volunteer, stated that she was inspired to start the bowl-a-thon 11 years ago when she came across a picture of herself from the 1970s wearing her "lucky plaid bowling pants.” Since then, this event has become one of the most popular fundraisers for OBG, and it continues to grow. According to Arango, “We typically get 80-90 bowlers, and it's so awesome to see half the bowling alley filled with fun, happy, dog-loving people united for one afternoon to help raise money for the dogs in our care.”

The Bow Wow Bowl-a-thon will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2pm to 5pm at the AMF Annandale Lanes, 4245 Markham Street, Annandale, VA. The cost of a ticket is $30 for adults ($15 for kids under 12) which includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, a slice of pizza and a soda. There will be door prizes, drawings and more. So if you love cocker spaniels, want to support animal rescue, or just want to do something fun on a Sunday afternoon, join OBG for the Bow Wow Bowl-a-thon. Registration closes March 29.
