The oldest Twitter user is @'IvyBean104. She is a pensioner living in a residential home in the U.K. She isn't the only person in the home in West Yorks, to be online.
“All the residents are taking a leaf out of her book. Four signed up for 'computer-college’ while others joined Facebook, surf the net and enjoy themselves with ten-pin bowling on the games console.”
Pat Wright, Residence Manager said.
Mrs. Bean was already on Facebook but the Geek Squad helped her set up her Twitter account and learn the language of tweeting.
“It’s brilliant to help someone as inspirational as Ivy to get started and teach her about Twitter,” said agent Martin Dix
“She’s quite tech savvy and already signed up to Facebook with 4,800 friends. She shows others that you shouldn’t be frightened of technology. If she was 50 years younger, I’m sure she’d make an ace Agent herself.”
Twitter's largest growth demographic is the 45-54 year olds, but as more adopt the social network, the median age of Twitter users will likely increase.
