The 18th Annual Scarecrows Along Main Street in Wetherssfield, Connecticut is on until October 27th. It is an annual tradition where local business owners and families compete with each other to design or make the most spectacular scarecrow design for this event. The event is free of charge and a sunny day is the best time to go. It is an event designed to draw tourists to the town to enjoy the many museums and shops. It is sponsored by the Olde Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association.
While strolling along Main Street, you will see many different scarecrows in different costumes and settings. There are Halloween scarecrows, patriotic displays, and whimsical themes. This is a enjoyable Halloween excursion to take children on or just go with family or friends. The Old Wethersfield Historic District on Main Street has many place to stop along the walk.
The Wethersfield Academy for the Arts has an art exhibit and sale of local artists on display. The show features art by adults and children. The Juried Fine Art Show and Sale runs until October 25. The Academy offers classes for both adults and children. There is a Creamery and Cafe located at 271 Main Street where visitors can stop to have a coffee, soft drinks, or ice cream. They serve soup, sandwiches, and hotdogs too. If you want a meal in an elegant upscale setting, try Lucky Lou's Bar and Grill with an extensive lunch and dinner menu. It is located at 222 Main Street in Wethersfield. In good weather it has indoor and outdoor dining.
