Old School RS: Obtaining woodcutting axes of all metals

Old School RuneScape players in search of better axes can obtain them from a variety of sources. This old school RuneScape guide will look at how to obtain axes in RuneScape. Although referred to as hatchets in EOC RuneScape, they were still called ax in the old school game.

Iron hatchet can be purchased for 56 coins and steel hatchet at 200 coins at Bob's axes in Lumbridge. These are the highest axes for sale in a shop in game.

RuneScape players can make Mithril, Adamant, and Rune axes at levels 51, 71, and 86 smithing respectively. Due to very few old school players having those levels, higher level axes were very rare at first.

Tree spirits are known to have axes as an uncommon to rare drop. A tree spirit must be killed within five minutes or it will despawn, regardless of whether or not the RuneScape player is in combat or being attacked. Tree spirits can be safespotted and ranged or maged.

Treasure trails are known to have hatchets drop as a reward. Mithril axes are a drop from several medium to high level monsters. Adamant ax drops from higher level monsters, so starting out it's a tossup whether it is easier to get combat or mining/smithing up. Rune Hatchets are gained from boss monster drops and from iron and steel dragons as a drop.

Dragon Ax is a rare drop from the Dagannoth kings and should start to enter the game as high level RuneScape players start fighting the bosses.
