Old School RS: Best ways to train through low mining levels

The following Old School RuneScape mining strategies may be employed in order for old school RuneScape players to level up mining high enough to hold their own while training.

RuneScape players should complete Doric's quest in order to start at a higher mining level with a steel pickaxe. Mine copper or tin to get mining up. The best location is at Port Khazard, where two rocks spawn very close to a bank deposit box.

Steel pickaxe can be bought from other RuneScape players or stolen from H.A.M. members with level 15 thieving. Mithril, adamant, and rune pickaxe can be purchased in the northwest end of the dwarven mines.

Iron opens at level 15. Avoid training in Varrock as those mines are generally crowded. There are three mines near Ardougne; legend's guild, monastery, and Port Khazard that contain iron. Low level players will be attacked by bears near the legend's guild. Rimmington mine and the mine west of Falador both contain iron, although a low level of agility is required for faster banking from west Falador mine.

There are other iron mines throughout RuneScape requiring varying levels of skill. Alternatively, RuneScape players can continue to mine the copper and tin at Port Khazard.

At level 30, coal unlocks. Gold unblocks at level 40, and there are gold mines that are not crowded although far from a bank. The crafting guild mine is accessible at level 40 crafting.

Mining is not a fast skill to train, but with patience, the experience will accumulate.
