Old School Cupcakes in a New School Space (Photos)

Whether you are so over the cupcake trend or you opened a Twitter account just so you could follow cupcake food trucks, there is always a time and place for the perfect cupcake.

Party Favors used to be tiny a jam-packed store with floor to ceiling party favors, balloons and more. They still have a selection of favors and treats that you can't find anywhere, but the real reason people continue to travel from 4, 5, 6 towns over was to get the perfect cupcake. Several display fridges were tucked up front with shelves packed with not only the most fun, decorated cupcakes, but the best tasting cupcakes in town. However, the icing on the cake, was and still is... the icing in the cake! From the tiniest tea cupcake to the jumbo and grande cupcakes the icing goes right into the cupcake.

It might not be Lackawanna, but over the past years (and there have been almost 50), Party Favors has just about tripled in size while still keeping, dare I say improving upon, the quality and integrity of their craft. Once the new decorating space upstairs is open, you may even be lucky enough to find Party Favors treats in a select few of your own neighborhood stores.

Now let's talk about the treats. You may just want to satisfy a little sweet craving with a "tea cupcake" but the problem will be choosing the one you want because there's not the usual choice of yellow and chocolate cake or colored frosting. Nor, is it tray after tray of newfangled and odd flavors. Each tiny cupcake is a different pastry/cake in its own right. From Boston cream pie to, my favorite, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and everything in between you'll need to go back often to get a taste of each.

Since you can't taste them until you stop in at Party Favors, you'll have to enjoy a feast with your eyes (see slideshow). The flavors are too extensive to list, so do yourself a favor and either solo or as a field trip with the children, stop in and take it all in.
