Most people recognize the city of Pasadena, California as the home of the Rose Bowl and annual Rose Parade. What you may not realize is, Pasadena is also home to a number of wonderful artistic, historic, and culinary gems. One of these is the historic area called Old Pasadena.
A great way to experience Old Pasadena is through a walking food tour. These tours give participants the chance to see the unique scenery and try some of the best local eats. One such tour is the Melting Pot Food Tour that gives guests the opportunity to experience the history, architecture, and folklore of Old Pasadena while enjoying some local culinary delights.
Expected stops on the tour may include ethnic delights like a Mexican tortas cafe, a rare Nepalese-Tibetan restaurant, and even a chocolate shop. Another planned stop includes a handmade soap kitchen.
The Melting Pot Food Tour aims to expose guests to a culinary experience they may not find on their own. The tour is approximately 3 hours and covers about 1 1/4 miles over flat terrain. The amount of food consumed on each tour is usually enough where people do not eat lunch or dinner afterwards (depending on your tour time). The tour is limited to 15 persons and tend to sell out quickly.
Tours take place on Thursday evenings at 5:30pm with an optional wine and cheese tasting at 5:00pm. Additional tours take place on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 10:30am. Tours are $49 per person or $65 per person for the optional wine/cheese tasting on Thursday nights.
