Old Dominion Tops James Madison in Tennis

On Sunday, the Old Dominion Monarchs played their Virginia rival James Madison Dukes indoors and won handily 6-1.

The men won the doubles point quickly with two convincing wins on two of the courts.

They would clinch the match shortly thereafter, led by #1 Seed Carlos Lopez Villa who won 6-1, 6-0. Jonas Kuwert converted another point, 6-4, 6-1, on Court 4 and walk-on Abdoulaye Camara dispatched his opponent 6-2, 6-0 on Court 6 to seal the team match for the Monarchs.

Number 5 seed Koen Wiggemans won in two close sets and feisty Zvonimir Podvinski came back to win in a 3rd set tiebreaker on Court 3.

The Monarchs improved their record to 11-7. Their next home match will be April 12 against William & Mary.
