Maysoon Zayid is enlightened. She is also hilarious, beautiful, and has the best (Pantene) hair of any guest or contributor on Countdown with Keith Olbermann. (Some have little hair and that is okay, too.) Last night she was on with Sam Seder, who was sitting in for Bill Press, who was sitting in for David Shuster, who was sitting in for Keith Olbermann...and a partridge in a pear tree. The first thing the exotic Arab-American said was that she felt like she was cheating on Keith. And rightfully so! Some Current viewers admit that they are sneaking away when there is a guest host. I will not name them here, but I will admit that I might get an extra bowl of fried ice cream when there is a substitute. No offense to any of the pinch hitters, as Mr. Olbermann calls them.
Ms. Zayid, who is famous for the annual New York Arab-American Comedy Festival and her charitable organization, Maysoon's Kids, offers comical commentary on current events. Last night it was the romantic side of Republicans. Yes, even they are looking for love...but perhaps in all the wrong places. She and Sam Seder had some fun with the prospect of an unconventional conventional, not-so-conservative conservative service. Recently, The Conservative Political Action Conference actually offered a dating seminar. Who Newt?
Clairol's Herbal Essence offers soft, shiny hair like Maysoon's. The universe offers Olberessence, which is the soft shining of Keith's essence that radiates throughout space, no matter where he is. Humans are so spoiled by physical form that they want to see somebody in order to affirm their actual presence. This is so not necessary. The essence of the bronchitis-bothered baritone is already here...there...and everywhere. This is why people still feel the presence of those who have passed. Only the physical form has left the stage. The essence never dies. All this talk about exits could be making folks who want to cheat death a bit nervous.
Patience is a virtue. That is not original from me, but I certainly believe it. Though waiting is the hardest part, it is perhaps the best part. Twitter followers continue to try to turn Keith's hair even lighter with their unenlightened tweets that suggest he is having too many days off. They, perhaps, are the ones who are off. Or maybe they are just crazy about him and miss him, like most.
Shoe is waiting for him to wear a red sweater, and I truly believe that one day he might. However, in the meantime and between time, we must live in the now present moment. Though Maysoon's name tempts us to look forward and Sam Seder's name beckons us to look back, let us not cheat ourselves out of this only open window of now.
P.S. If you have nothing else to do, wash your hair.
