On Friday, the One Hope United Auxiliary Board hosts its fourth annual Oktoberfest for Hope event at the Joffrey Ballet.
With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking both Randolph and State Streets in the Loop, the Joffrey provides a picturesque, classic Chicago location for this fantastic evening that moves to a weekend for the first time in 2013.
Fun fact: the official German Oktoberfest in Munich begins at noon on Saturday –so you might say, the OHU Auxilary Board’s Oktoberfest kicks off the festivities from across the pond!
The evening will feature beer by Revolution Brewing as well as wine and non-alcoholic beverages. A delicious menu by Jewell Events will offer Oktoberfest-themed treats such as mini bratwursts, soft pretzel bites, and kartoffelpuffin (German potato latkes and also, best word ever). Word on the street is that servers MAY be dressed in lederhosen, but you’ll just have to show up to find out for sure.
As always, guests can bid on a range of fabulous silent auction items: tickets to local comedy club, Zanies, a Beer 101 class for 6 at The Beer Bistro, and even (drumroll, please)… a chef’s table experience for two at Girl and the Goat. There will also be a raffle for tickets to the Bears-Packers game, so come with wallet in hand!
Photography will be provided by Spectaculights (www.spectaculights.com) –be sure to look your best for the camera!
Proceeds of this event will benefit three One Hope United programs doing important work in the community. Healthy Families Illinois works with first-time parents to promote strengths-based skills and family bonds. The Parent Group brings parents together with a professional facilitator to sharpen their child-rearing skills. This voluntary service is designed to support parents and ultimately help prevent child abuse and neglect. Finally, the Wings program helps new and expecting parents adjust to the responsibilities of raising a family. Wings teaches problem-solving skills and helps parents build trusting relationships with their children, strengthening the family unit in the process.
Your generosity will go a long way in helping One Hope United to support thousands of children and families in need this year.
Be sure to register for Oktoberfest in advance, as tickets will not be available at the door. Don’t miss out on one of fall’s signature charity events –purchase yours today!
