Oksana Baiul sues NBC for $5M

Figure skater Oksana Baiul is suing NBC Universal and Disson Skating LLC for $5 million, according to a Feb. 5 Yahoo News report. Oksana Baiul was the 1994 Olympic gold medalist.

According to the lawsuit, NBC Universal and Disson Skating LLC attempted to get the skater to skate in two shows for the network. However, she declined to perform, and even though she never signed any type of paperwork, NBC used her name and likeness as part of the promotion for the shows on two radio websites. In addition, she appeared in the shows' press release.

Because she was featured in the show's promotional material and everything, but she failed to perform, she feels her reputation has been damaged because she was a "no show." Because of this, Oksana Baiul has had a tough time finding work. Because of this, Oksana Baiul is suing NBC for $5 million in damages.

The skater has had a rough time recently, and she has also sued he William Morris Endeavor talent agency because they cheated her out of millions of dollars. She collected $9.5 million from this lawsuit, and more of her money could be missing.
