According to Bryce Forbes on the Calgary Roughnecks website, Calgary Roughnecks captain Andrew McBride has been named as the head coach of the Okotoks Raiders in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League on Tuesday.
McBride is a native of Ladner, British Columbia and has played with the Calgary Roughnecks since 2003. A defenseman, McBride's best season came in 2007 when he had a career high 15 points.
The goal for the Raiders is as it is every year is to win the Minto Cup, the Canadian junior men's lacrosse championship.
The Raiders also named Dane Dobbie, one of the top players of the Roughnecks players, as McBride's offensive co-ordinator.
The Roughnecks meanwhile announced on Tuesday that Geoff Snider and Dobbie will be assistant captains this season. Mike Carnegie will remain as the alternate captain.
The Roughnecks open their 2014 National Lacrosse League season Friday in Toronto. The Roughnecks' first home game will be on January 10 against the Colorado Mammoth.
