After losing a close game in Manhattan, the Oklahoma State women took out their frustrations Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, by crushing Kansas State 80-45.
All five starters were in double figures for the Cowgirls (18-6, 7-6 Big 12). K-State falls to 13-12 and 4-9. Oklahoma State still has a shot at second place with five games remaining. Baylor is unbeaten in the Big 12, but in second place is Iowa State and Oklahoma with four losses each.
Toni Young had 23 points and 18 rebounds for Oklahoma State. Kendra Suttles also had a double-double, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Liz Donohoe had 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Tiffany Bias had 13 points, five rebounds and six assists. Brittney Martin finished with 11 points.
Kansas State was held to 31 percent in the first half and 29 percent from the field for the whole game. Oklahoma State shot 46 percent in the first half and 62 percent in the second half.
Kansas State guard Brittany Chambers, who is second in Big-12 scoring averaging 19 points per game, was held to nine points and was 4-18 from the field. Briana Craig led the Wildcats with 17 with five 3-pointers.
Oklahoma State had a 50-22 edge in rebounding.
The Cowgirls play at TCU next Wednesday, a team they beat soundly in Stillwater. The Cowgirls will renew the Bedlam Series next Saturday, Feb. 23, when the team hosts Oklahoma at 2 p.m. OSU will be looking to even the series after having lost to Oklahoma in Norman earlier this year.
After that the Cowgirls have games at Texas Tech and Iowa State, and host Texas.
