The Aug. 30, 2014 Oklahoma State (OSU) Cowboys vs Florida State (FSU) Seminoles football game is scheduled to be shown at 7 p.m. on KTUL ch 8.1 in Tulsa. KTUL is running a 30 minute special before the game at 6:30 p.m. ESPN college Game day is covering the game all day.

The OSU vs FSU game is one example in the long history of Oklahoma State going for the quick operational buck to the detriment for its long term future. In the past Oklahoma State, for the cash, has played critical games away from home like they once played Nebraska in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. They also schedule top teams as the first games of the season which usually end up decimated their ranks and leaving top players too injured to be effective for the rest of the season. The Oklahoma State vs Florida State game combines both mistakes. The game is played at AT&T stadium in Dallas and Florida State is returning most of their national champion team from a year ago. Expect lots of Cowboys to get hurt and be ineffective for the rest of the season. The lack of fan support will hurt OSU's chance of an upset. FSU is about a 17 point favorite. OSU Head Coach Gundy has repeatedly been against scheduling these types of games but it is Athletic Director Holder who is in charge of the scheduling. Kansas State and Nebraska have achieved great success for decades by scheduling cream puffs especially on their first game of the season. The University of Oklahoma essentially forces their fans to donate in order to get tickets to the OU Texas game so they don't have to pull stunts for their operational budget.

Oklahoma State is being led by their quarterback J.W. Walsh. J.W. Walsh is a mostly running quarterback who can throw. He was thrown into Brandon Weeden's offense but he doesn't have as strong an arm and isn't as accurate as Weeden. Gundy benched him for Chelf who also wasn't as talented as Weeden but was more experienced in running that type of offense. Hopefully OSU will have modified to more of a zone read type of offense or replaced Walsh. Florida State is being led by their last year Heisman winning quarterback Jameis Winston who can run and throw.
