Oklahoma State top seed in regionals

Oklahoma State will be a top seed in this weekend's NWCA National Duals regional, according to pairings announced Feb. 13, 2013. The regional will be held in Kent, Iowa. Sunday with matches at noon and 2 p.m.

Also this week Oklahoma State took over first place in the national rankings with ts 13-0 record. Oklahoma State is the only unbeaten team left among the ranked teams. Oklahoma State has beaten No. 2 Iowa, No. 4 Minnesota, No. 6 Missouri, and No. 10 Cornell in dual matches this season.

Oklahoma State will take on Kent State in the first round Sunday at noon. If Oklahoma State wins it will take on the winner of the Wisconsin - Northern Iowa match at 2 p.m . The winner advances to the national duals finals set for Feb. 22-23 in Minneapolis, Minn. Four regional winners will advance. Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Ohio State have received automatic bids.

The national duals are an invitational tournament that crowns the top duals team. Last year Oklahoma State hosted the finals and finished second.

Oklahoma State will host the Big 12 duals March 8-9. The NCAA championships are set for the weekend after that at Iowa.

Oklahoma State has won five national championships under the direction of coach John Smith, and has 38 national championships since competitive wrestling began at the college level in the 1920s.
