Saturday Jan 5, 2013 kicks off Big 12 basketball, with a Oklahoma State and Oklahoma double header. Big 12 basketball has been on recent years on ch 2.1 KJRH and last year on ch 6.2 KQCW. This year it is on clear channel run station ch 41.1 KMYT. OSU faces Kansas State at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 5, 2013. OU then tips off against West Virginia at 3 p.m.
OSU has potentially a great season coming up. They narrowly lost to Gonzaga on Dec. 31, 2012. Marcus Smart is a top recruit who even though a point guard is leading several categories like blocks. Le'Bryan Nash is the leading scorer even after having been in a mid season slump. Smart's high school teammate Phil Forte has a quick release three point shot that is incredibly accurate if his feet are set. Philip Jurick's athleticism alters opponents' shots around the basket. The one downside is they still don't play as a team. Most of their scoring come from Nash doing his own thing or Smart and Forte doing theirs. The coaching is a problem because it took several minutes before OSU ran a pay against Gonzaga's seven footer, Kelly Olynyk, after he had gotten his fourth foul. He eventually was forced to foul out but it was too late.
OU is still in a rebuilding period since the hiring of Lon Kruger. They were slaughtered by Gonzaga and even lost to Stephen F Austin.
The basketball coaches' shows, just like the football coaches' shows, will not be seen on Tulsa TV. They are however available on cable (Cox 3).
