The Oklahoma Sooners (OU) vs Notre Dame (ND) football game which starts at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 28, 2013 is being broadcast on NBC (ch. 2.1 KJRH in Tulsa). Notre Dame has a deal with NBC which is the main reason they haven't joined a conference in football. It requires them to play “named” teams that are attractive to TV audiences.
Last year ND went through the regular season undefeated but this us a different team. The starting quarterback from last year Everett Golson was suspended for poor academic judgment. ND struggled against Purdue and has already lost to Michigan.
Oklahoma's 2013 schedule looked to be brutal. It would be if they were playing last years teams. The Big 12 is down, Tulsa has fallen off a cliff and Notre Dame is struggling with an already rejected quarterback. What looked like good victories against University of Louisiana-Monroe and West Virginia prove nothing. OU's revamped defense only held Tulsa to one point lower then the much maligned Iowa State's defense. OU's quarterback Blake Bell threw well against Tulsa, but Tulsa held OU to 2.3 yards per carry in the first quarter and half. Tulsa was concentrating on stopping the run and allowing Bell to pass.
