Oklahoma Sooners recruiting just nabbed its 22nd verbal commitment of the 2014 recruiting class when three-star safety Jordan Thomas committed on Jan. 19. According to NewsOK.com, Thomas had been committed to Northwestern for the last year, but chose to become the fourth verbal since OU beat Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
The weekend was a big one for OU when it comes to hosting possible recruits, and while Thomas was the only one who made a verbal commitment on Sunday, there are a few more who are still considering their options.
Also on campus for the big Oklahoma Sooners recruiting visit this weekend was LSU commit and Douglass defensive end Deondre Clark and Jenks safety Steven Parker. Also visiting was former Texas Longhorns recruit, defensive end Courtney Garnett.
Garnett is a three-star recruit, while Clark and Parker are four-star recruits.
Rivals recruiting expert Josh McCuistion said that he was stunned at how big Oklahoma Sooners recruiting is since that big Sugar Bowl win. McCuistion figured that OU just needed to hang with Alabama to not hurt their recruiting. However, he said that ever since OU won the way they won, the impact is bigger than he ever expected.
Two weeks from now, another four-star recruit, defensive back Kendall Randolph, will visit OU. Randolph was supposed to be a Louisville recruit but backed out when Charlie Strong left the program for Texas. After the Sugar Bowl, he is considering OU for the first time.
