When the Oklahoma Sooners beat the Alabama Crimson Tide, they secured the services of the number one all-purpose running back recruit of 2014, Joe Mixon. According to NewsOK.com on Jan. 11, that was not just big because they got a talented player, but it also brought in someone who is trying to do some recruiting of his own.
Mixon said that, the minute that the Sooners beat Alabama, his mind was made up to head to OU. He was also considering Cal and UCLA, and since he is from California, those teams made sense. However, with OU surely to be highly ranked in 2014, he made the move to Oklahoma.
Mixon ran for 1,704 rushing yards with 28 touchdowns as a senior. Dallis Todd, a four-star receiver who committed to OU last year said that Mixon reminds him of DeMarco Murray.
Now, he wants to bring in even more talent to join him there.
According to three-star defensive tackle Trey Lealaimatafao, Mixon has been hitting him up twice a week about coming to Oklahoma as well. Lealaimatafao is from San Antonio and he visited OU in his junior year of high school. He met Mixon at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl last weekend.
Lealaimatafao was committed to the Texas Longhorns, but de-committed because of the coaching changes. He said that he will wait until Feb. 5 (signing day) to make his decision.
