Heartline is an Oklahoma City organization dedicated to operating the 24/7 211 CareLine as well as providing counseling and information to battle suicide, addiction and hopelessness. They've been working in the community since 1971, relying on volunteers and charitable giving to provide their much needed services.
This week, Heartline has found a champion in a group of social networkers. Carnival of Hope is a Blogging Carnival focused on promoting Heartline's upcoming Festival of Hope. Blogging Carnivals are a collection of blogs (online journals) that get together to promote a common cause. Think of it as a sort of magazine dedicated to a particular theme. When combined with a social cause, it is social networking at its very finest.
The creative force behind Carnival of Hope is Jessica Miller-Merrel, from Xceptional HR. As a volunteer for Heartline and a social media expert, she saw the opportunity to help get the word out about their fundraising gala in this unique way. Taking the collection of blog entries about the Festival of Hope, Jessica highlights them in her own Blogging4Jobs blog, and Blogging4Jobs Twitter account.
Heartline's Festival of Hope is Friday, August 28th from 6:00 to 9:30 pm in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Tickets and more information are available here.
