OKC Mayoral Race 2014 : Understanding assets and liabilities

See also

22 December 2013, Sunday newslines bolted with exchange between The Oklahoman Newspaper and Dr. Ed Shadid current Ward 2 OKC Councilor.

Friday, Judge Lisa Hammond did sign off on the release of some of the documents from the Dr Edward Shadid II family divorce case, with results tumbling forward information about the family of 5.

A hot topic, as Hammond had per OSCN ( Oklahoma Supreme Court Network) wrongly consented to cloister the records at the request of the family. Apparently there is no law in Oklahoma that would allow Hammond to offer this to the family when they submitted a motion for same. ( which would make her actions unconstitutional, and costing the taxpayers money, the family money, time and emotional false hope and stress)

And why the question was managed in the Oklahoma County Courthouse is also interesting, as Hammond is appointed by Governor Fallin I am told, and the husband of Swinton, Hammond's courthouse boss was a former competitor against Shadid for the City Council spot.... and of course the Mayoral Race is in Oklahoma County..... eh.that is all just 7 degrees to Kevin Bacon stuff......

Dr. Ed Shadid ( Green Party Candidate running under Democratic Candidacy) is an active and enthusiastic, inventive, energetic, highly connected locally, nationally and internationally, highly visible candidate for the Oklahoma City Mayor's Race 2014. Who happens to have an advanced degree, speak multiple languages, is a Dad and ....

Dr. Ed Shadid, up against the multi-year incumbent, Mayor Mick Cornett, (a Republican).

Dr. Ed Shadid is under scrutiny from the The Oklahoman Newspaper has a long term Red bent, and Oklahoma has a long term RED bent...... (things have been sparky.)

And at least one prior somewhat scrape between the paper and OKC City Council staffers, including the Mayor and Shadid. doesn't seem to be coming up or explained or resolved to date.

Twitter for @EdShadid shows an exchange of sorts that follows the issues over the past few days.

Some thoughts on the recent tides of mishaps from the Oklahoma County Courthouse staffer, Judge Lisa Hammond; and tussling staffers from The Oklahoman Newspaper with regarding Dr. Ed Shadid responding to a call for his court documents from his divorce,( citing substances use, marital conflict, mutual conjugal unavailability, child maltreatment, workaholism, coping with losses of family members and various challenges.) Most well over 5 years ago and all signs are on to wellness and personal balance

++++++ BTW Shadid said these things openly and directly at his live opening campaign speech in August. One by one. Not the video clip, promoting the campaign onset but the actual meeting held at the Old Farmer's Market.

And so the following came to mind about the whole process.

"There can be no peace without reconciliation, no reconciliation without forgiveness, and no forgiveness without giving up all hope for a better past.", Anglican Bishop Desmond Tutu Hmm.

Assets Hmm.

Liabilities Hmmm.

The Oklahoman continues to assert, reading records some of which are court records, controlled medical documents and other things (?) that there is an issue of Dr. Shadid being something other than asset to the process of midwifing the OKC government in this period of explosive growth that demands intricate plans for infrastructure to support and care for existing residents, businesses and leisure and to prepare for new of same. Hmmm. The Oklahoman reading records is a little like OKDHS doing investigations. The wild things that come off their fingers and lips. Hmm.

April 2013, I went to the University of Oklahoma Placemaking Conference, sponsored by the school of Public Affairs and the School of Architecture. This was hosted by the listed staff. And the entire series of internationally and nationally known speakers, with Powerpoint and or video of their work is listed under events

At different intervals, I have been struck by the wisdoms shared at this Placemaking event. This gentleman is a long term resident of Oklahoma City, an architect and award winning community developer, from grassroots human facilitations to structure.

Mr. Frantz is a professor at OU School of Architecture and something of a long term champion of intown living in the historic PASEO district just north of Downtown Oklahoma City. He has the heart of a social worker.

In Frantz's video presentation, starting at 1.20 or so, he did talk about a contest he'd won about 37 years ago as a Northern OKC graduating senior.. In his recollection Frantz did note, between the 25 area bidders 5 top winners were (in his question, perhaps of judge bias?) selected from his alma mater, Putnam City High School, now known as PCO.

Our city has a looooong history of rolling in certain directions. Some call it a rut. Many people note this. Over many environments, over many years.

An excerpt, again that appears in the Frantz video says it all pretty well... just what needs to happen for OKC. His words go something like this " communities work out their own destinies. They do this by a bit of soul searching, to study themselves objectively and recognize their disadvantages and advantages, with the goal being to correct the one and enhance and exploit the other. All of this happens with complete community cooperation and instant implementation of plans."

Assets and liabilities. Register and vote March 2014 Oklahoma City Mayoral Campaign.
