Oily skin does not mean no moisturizer

See also

Women, and people in general, have this idea in their head that because they have naturally oily skin or an oily t-zone, they don't need to use a moisturizer. They fear that this will only make it worse. That notion is wrong ladies! It is very necessary.

Oily skin can be caused by the overproduction of oil because the skin is actually dry and needs moisture. Especially living in Colorado, the climate here can really dry you out like a desert. So if you have skin that always seems to be shining, when it gets dried out it tends to make extra moisture giving you that 'I just slapped some grease all over my face' look. And gosh is this just dreadful. It is so difficult to deal with! By not giving it what it needs from a moisturizer, it will continue to shine.

Luckily, there is such an easy solution. For those of you worried about using moisturizers and making matters worse (it won't), there are oil-free and matte options. If you have ever seen matte nail polish or matte foundation you will know what this means. Matte gives things a shine-free finish. It all depends on you and your preferences, and the way your skin reacts to what you use. For acne prone skin, fragrance-free is the better route because the fragrance in some moisturizers can irritate the skin even more. Fragrance on the face should just honestly be avoided altogether.

Using a really good night cream could even help. If you are still paranoid about putting more oil onto your face, start with just using something at night so it can at least work its magic while you sleep. Avoid anything too heavy that could clog up your pores. This goes for everything not just night creams. A substitute for night time is coconut oil. This is becoming more popular in not just health, but in many other things as well. There are many uses for it, beauty being a big one. Rub some coconut oil into your face at night. It is a pure and natural way to replenish the moisture in your skin.

Once a moisturizer of some sort is picked, it should be applied with the finger tips in a circular motion going outward from your nose. This helps to prevent wrinkles by not pushing the skin in. Also, use your ring finger to apply to the sensitive skin near your eyes.

Whatever route you go, your skin will thank you once it rehydrates.

And remember, you are beautiful.
