Oilers hammer Kodiaks 5-0 Monday

According to the Alberta Junior Hockey League website, the Okotoks Oilers are one win away from advancing to the Alberta Junior Hockey League South Division Final.

On Monday night at the Edgeworth Centre in Camrose, the Oilers put together a very complete performance in a 5-0 shutout victory over the Camrose Kodiaks to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in the best out of seven series in the South Division semi-final.

John Edwardh, an eighteen year old forward from Calgary, led the Oilers with two goals, including the game winning goal very early in the contest at 4:12 of the first period from Connor Hartley and goaltender Jared D'Amico.

D'Amico, from Chestermere, Alberta, not only helped in setting up the game winning goal for the Oilers, but was perfect on the night in making 33 saves. He was named the player of the game.

Defenceman Drew Welch of Calgary led the Oilers in points with three (one goal and two assists).

The Oilers and Kodiaks play game four of their series Tuesday night in Camrose.
