Oilers beat Kodiaks 3-1 in AJHL Playoffs Friday

According to the Alberta Junior Hockey League website, the Okotoks Oilers defeated the Camrose Kodiaks 3-1 in game one of the Alberta Junior Hockey League South Division semi-final on Friday night.

Playing at the Pason Centennial Arena in Okotoks, twenty minutes south of Calgary, the Oilers got a key second period shorthanded goal from 20 year old forward Chris Collins which turned out to be the game winning goal.

Jordan Swenson, a 19 year old defenceman from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, led the Oilers in scoring with a goal and an assist, and was the player of the game. Jared D'Amico of Chestermere Lake, Alberta made 24 saves and was perfect in making 18 saves on 18 Kodiak shot attempts in the second and third period.

Game two of the series is tonight at 7:00 p.m. In the other AJHL South Division semi-final, the Brooks Bandits continue to roll as they defeated the Drumheller Dragons 5-1 in game one of their series.

Meanwhile in the North Division semi-finals, the Spruce Grove Saints beat the Sherwood Park Crusaders 3-1 and the Whitecourt Wolverines beat the Bonnyville Pontiacs 4-3. Both of those series are now tied 1-1.
