According to the Alberta Junior Hockey League website, the Okotoks Oilers defeated the Camrose Kodiaks 2-1 in game two of the Alberta Junior Hockey League South Division semi-final on Saturday night.
With the win, the Oilers lead the best out of seven series 2-0. Rookie forward John Edwardh scored the game winning goal for the Oilers (who play 20 minutes south of Calgary), with 34 seconds left in the second period from Scott Bolland and Tanner Olstad.
Edwardh, an 18 year old from Calgary, now has five goals and four assists for nine points in seven playoff games for the Oilers.
The series will now shift to Camrose Monday night. In other AJHL playoff action, the Brooks Bandits defeated the Drumheller Dragons 7-5 to take a 2-0 lead in the other AJHL South Division semi-final.
The news was not as good however for another Calgary-based team in the playoffs on Saturday. At the Canadian Interuniversity Sport National Women's Basketball Championship in Regina, the University of Calgary Dinos lost 82-65 to the University of Windsor in the semi-finals.
