Oil Pulling

See also

Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic remedy for oral health and detoxification. It involves the use of pure oils as agents for pulling harmful bacteria, fungus, and other organisms out of the mouth, teeth, gums and even throat ( How is it that simple oil can accomplish all of that? Scientific studies are being tested to prove the validity of the benefits of oil pulling but this practice dates thousands of years back. Scientists believe that the lipids in oil (sesame oil being at the top) pull out bacteria and stop it from sticking to the walls of the oral cavity.

Many people swear by the oil pulling method saying that they’ve noticed whiter teeth and a reduction in the size of present cavities. Other oral heath benefits associated with oil pulling include:

• Prevention of dryness of the lips, mouth and throat
• Strengthening of the teeth, gums and jaw
• Prevention of bad breath
• Treats bleeding gums
• Prevention of diseases of the gums and mouth (gingivitis/cavities)

It not only stops there but even goes as far as to say oil pulling can be used in areas from helping insomnia to relieving migraine headaches. Overall, the popularity of oil pulling is growing so much so that even the Huffington Post got in on the action releasing results from a current study. If oil pulling pulls out all the stops that many claim then those dreaded dentist visits can be drastically reduced and your oral health improved for the better.
