The 2013 NCAA football schedule rolls into Week 6 of action today and the biggest game on the Big 10 schedule involves the Northwestern Wildcats. When the Wildcats hit the field tonight to face the Ohio State Buckeyes they have a chance to not only bust up the AP Top 25 polls, but possibly jump into the top 10 themselves.
According to a Sportsline report on Oct. 4, Ohio State has flat out dominate Northwestern for decades.
OSU has won 28 of the last 29 meetings, leads the series with a gaudy 59-14-1 record and they are currently riding a nation-best 17-game winning streak. And oh, by the way, Ohio State is 13-1 against Northwestern when the Buckeyes are ranked in the top five.
So no way they lose today vs. the Cats, right?
Don’t be so sure.
If there was ever a year for Northwestern to break this OSU streak of dominance, it’s this year. The Cats are playing great football right now and are currently ranked No.16 in the nation.
Led by quarterback Kain Colter Northwestern has their shot to shock the college football world tonight, but they don't want to get so excited that they come out flat.
"At the same time, we don't want to overhype it," said Colter, who threw for a touchdown and ran for another in a 35-21 win over FCS opponent Maine last week. "We don't need to play out of this world. We just need to play our game to be able to win."
Las Vegas odds makers have OSU as a 7.5 point favorite with the over/under set at 58.
Prediction - Northwestern rises to this challenge. Do they win the game? They might, but that +7.5 looks good! The game kicks off at 8:00 p.m. EST and will be shown on ABC nationwide.
Pick - Northwestern +7.5
