The Buckeyes are slowly moving their way up. After a bye week, Ohio State is number nine in the latest BCS rankings.
Oregon remains number one, Auburn, TCU, Boise State and LSU round out the top five.
Here’s the BCS top ten for November 7:
1. Oregon
2. Auburn
3. TCU
4. Boise State
5. LSU
6. Stanford
7. Wisconsin
8. Nebraska
9. Ohio State
10. Oklahoma State
Other Big Ten teams:
11. Michigan State
13. Iowa
My observations:
The Buckeyes are not moving up much due in large part to their schedule. The polls have helped them out considerably but not having a signature win to this point hurts. A win at Iowa may be their only big win this season. Here’s the other problem, with TCU now gaining tons of steam it may leave a situation where the BCS has two at large bids for Stanford, Ohio State and Boise State. It may mean the Buckeyes could win out and still miss the BCS.
The winners in this are TCU, LSU and Stanford. After great wins by all three, they are creating a logjam at the top. With the exception of Boise State, TCU may be the most complete team I‘ve seen play.
The way this season has gone to this point, it wouldn’t surprise me to see one if not both the top teams lose. This would create BCS chaos, which in some regards is just what this sport needs.
