The Alabama Crimson Tide is highly favored entering the 2013 college football season, ranked No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches Polls. However, according to USA Today on Aug. 30, the Ohio State Buckeyes might be even better than their undefeated team from 2012.
Coach Urban Meyer led his team to an undefeated season in a year where the players knew they were playing for nothing but bragging rights than to NCAA sanctions. Now, in 2013, they have a chance to win trophies again, and they start in week one with a game against the Buffalo Bulls.
The biggest area of concern for the Buckeyes is on defense, where they are missing eight starters and all four defensive linemen are new. They also have fresh faces in two of their three linebacker positions. Luckily, the Buckeyes defense gets to gel against a Buffalo team that finished 2012 ranked 99th in the NCAA in scoring on their way to a 4-8 record.
There also might be some star struck players in Buffalo, as the second ranked Ohio State Buckeyes are the highest ranked team that Buffalo has ever played in school history. While they might dream of an upset, it won’t happen this week.
Ohio State Buckeyes odds coming into this game see them as heavy favorites, favored to win by 34 points. There is a good reason to believe they will win by a lot more than that.
The Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Buffalo Bulls game kicks off at 12 p.m. EST.
