Ohio Sports Legend Andre Thornton helps honor Central Ohio athletes and coaches

The Central Ohio Fellowship of Christian Athletes is celebrating its 11th year of honoring student athletes and coaches at their Ohio Sports Legends Event on Thursday, April 29th at Xenos Christian Fellowship. You are invited to join fifty middle school, high school, and college recipients to hear this year’s 2010 Ohio Sports Legend, Andre “Thunder” Thornton.

Thornton played professional baseball for 21 years. He spent ten seasons with the Cleveland Indians where he was a two-time All-Star and received the coveted Silver Slugger Award in 1984. Additionally, Thornton was inducted into the Ohio Baseball Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame. In 1979 he was the recipient of the Roberto Clemente Award, an honor given to a player who best exemplifies the game of baseball, sportsmanship, community involvement, and team contribution. Andre also founded a successful consulting and sports management company and continues to speak nationally on Executive Leadership, Organizational Change, and Diversity.

Thornton joins a list of eleven other honored Ohio Sports Legends for this event:
Rex Kern, Anthony Munoz, Clark Kellogg, Jim Tressel, Chris Spielman, Dave Dravecky, Archie Griffin, Sam Rutigliano, Todd Bell, Jerry Lucas, and Craig Krenzel.
