Ohio's secret talents revealed (Photos)

Its no secret that the hard rock band Seven Circle Sunrise from Massillon, Ohio has talent. The band was headlining in downtown Canton at the Auricle Friday night along with Devil By Design from Columbus. Seven Circle Sunrise had let the cat out of the bag a long time ago when they released the bands first album "Beauty In Being Alone"(2011). Keeping the lyrics real and personable allowed Veno Xavier (lead singer) to convey what he was feeling and speak from the heart. The band has been busy this past year. They've opened for Slash (Guns and Roses) Sum 41, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and others in addition to headlining their own tour. Many good things are still yet to come for this band!

If your one that keeps up on the local music scene on a regular basis than you've already known that Canton and its surrounding cities has some amazingly talented bands and that Seven Circle Sunrise aren't the only ones worthy of recognition. Bands such as Where Are You Houston a six piece band made up of close friends whose talents come together to create a harmonious rock sound. Promise Me Scarlet is another good band after a four year break up the band recently got back together and is ready to reclaim their spot as a band to be reckoned with.

Not forgetting about our neighbors to the north, they have the widely known rock band Red Sun Rising out of Akron. This band has been putting the rock back into rock for a while now with their infectious sound and talent to back up the fact they have much to offer and aren't just some long hair hotties on stage. Mike Protich's (lead singer) powerful vocal range gives the band the fresh sound they need to stand out from the rest. Having successfully released two albums, opened for countless national acts look for these guys on tour soon.

Alter Ego from Chagrin Falls has been gaining a lot of recognition lately as a band to checkout this bands following continues to grow as the word about them continues to spread. Atlter Ego plays to a more mature audience and the band covers rock songs from the 70's, 80's, and 90's this band is sure to get you out of your seat and having a good time no matter your age.

If you're looking for a heavier sound than let me suggest you check out Taking Scarlet (lisbon/salem) and Call Of The Fallen (Canton). Both bands have everything you'd expect from pop/ metal bands. Taking Scarlet is hard and raw their sounds rips through you leaving you breathless. Call Of The Fallen have hooks of pop, the riffs of rock, and the heaviness of metal all blended into what makes them unique.

Your budget may not always permit you to catch a national act but there's no reason to sit at home with this caliber of talent in your own back yard! Many of these guys are pursuing their life's dream and devote many hours to practice weekly to perfect their craft so that they can bring you a quality performance. Lets not be wasteful of this talent, so make sure you get out and support your local music scene.! To keep up with these bands in the new year be sure to check out their individual pages.
