NBC4i.com reports that the first case of this mysterious illness presented itself about three weeks ago. Officials list the symptoms of the illness as:
- Bloody diarrhea
- Weight loss
So far, doctors believe the illness has killed at least four dogs in Ohio, and urge owners to seek immediate medical care for their dog if they spot any of the symptoms.
Myfox28Columbus.com reports that state veterinarian Dr. Tony Forshey with the Ohio Department of Agriculture is urging pet owners to avoid taking their dogs to dog parks or allowing them to co-mingle with other dogs until they are able to identify this deadly and mysterious illness.
Dr. Forshey added that it can take as little as three days for a dog to succumb to the illness, but says he doesn't believe there is reason to panic at all.
