Tragedy struck the Ohio community of 15,000 in Cambridge Township when a local man killed himself and his 5-year-old son using a shotgun on Jan 9.
Russel Ball, 36, had reached out for help the previous afternoon claiming that he planned to harm himself, according to the local reporting of 10tv.com. Because of that the Guernsey County Sheriff's department paid a visit to Ball's home. When there was no answer at the door deputies broke in and discovered the dead bodies of Russel Ball and his 5-year-old son Jacob.
No motive is known at this time, but the sheriff's department has released two statements. The bodies of father and son will have an autopsy performed on them with the results to be made public.
