According to Monday's 6 On Your Side News, a property owner in Chillicothe, Ohio, made a disturbing discovery on Sunday near a "no dumping" sign along a remote road.
In front of the sign was a mangled, wire dog cage and just feet away, the body of a deceased female pit bull who was dead in the snow. The man who found the dog off of Union Lane said that it appeared that the dog had been in the kennel, but she was able to escape and walk a short distance before dying.
The man told ABC 6 News:
I don't know if it's weather related but people just don't care about animals they don't care about life,"
On Monday, the Ohio SPCA shared the following information on their Facebook page:
ABANDONED DOG FOUND DEAD IN REMOTE AREA: The Ohio SPCA sent one of our animal cruelty investigators to the site, as soon as we had the location. The dog is now in our possession and a necropsy will be done in order to confirm the cause of death.
The local dog warden has indicated that, without witnesses, there is little that can be done.
Anyone who has information about this case is asked to contact:
