The Ohio Historical Society Archives/Library announced this week their schedule for genealogy workshops that will be offered during 2012. The workshops presented offer Ohio genealogists a wonderful opportunity to explore methodology and technique as well as the holdings of two local repositories. Several, such as Family History Sources at the Ohio History Center, will not only increase your knowledge of the materials available but are sure to benefit the personal research of all who attend. Each workshop is two hours in length and will offer information for those ranging across all skill levels. Members of the Ohio Historical Society receive a small discount in registration, though all are welcome to attend.
Workshops offered at the Ohio Historical Society Archives/Library during the winter quarter of 2012 include:
- Cornerstones of Genealogy (January 21, 2012)
- Family History Sources at the Ohio History Center (January 28, 2012)
- A Trip through Time with the Census (February 25, 2012)
- Getting the Most From Online Sources (March 24, 2012)
In addition to these, the historical society’s Archives/Library staff has joined together with the Columbus Metropolitan Library to offer additional workshops and research opportunities. The main library location is home to not only CML’s own genealogy references and resources but also the materials of the Franklin County Genealogical and Historical Society. Make the most of the local resources that are available to Columbus residents by learning how to navigate the library’s large collection.
Free events offered at the Columbus Metropolitan Library during the winter quarter of 2012 include:
- Family History Sources at the Columbus Metropolitan Library (February 11, 2012)
- Genealogy Forum (March 10, 2012)
Descriptions and registration information are available on the Ohio Historical Society’s OhioHistory.org website.
