Ohio governor John Kasich praised Terre Haute as something to do in Indiana. He mentioned the city in the same sentence as Indianapolis and Gary. Kasich delivered his left-handed compliment at a gathering of Hamilton County Republicans, according to Cincinnati.com..
“I mean, if you think of Indiana, you've got Indianapolis, and then what? Terre Haute?”
Indianapolis Star editor Cori Francis took issue with Kasich's comments and compiled her own list of things people can do.. Francis, a transplant to Indiana, informed readers she could find plenty of things to criticize, but she did so from a place of love.
The Terre Haute Community Issues Examiner, who is also a transplant, formed his initial impression of Ohio and Indiana during a bus trip he made in 1996. For many years, he used one word to describe both states. That word was flat.
He would later find out that hills do exist in Indiana, but they are not as tall as the mountains found in his home state. Terre Haute also boasts several items of local interest. The Coca-Cola hobble skirt bottle was first made here, it hosts a community theater, ISU offers many attraction, and an archery allows people to practice with a bow and area.. Terre Haute also has a combination pizza shop and gaming store.
Someone who has lived in the city for mauy not know everything a person can do in Terre Haute, but people who were[ born in the city should be able to come up with a much longer list.
