This is a perfect example of why the internet should never be censored.
An anonymous hacker named KnightSec has released a previously unknown video of a group of high school students joking and laughing about an instance of alleged rape that reportedly occurred in Steubenville, Ohio in August 2012.
According to TheBlaze.com, "last month, the New York Times published a detailed report on an alleged gang rape in the small Ohio football town of Steubenville. Two Steubenville football players, Trent Mays and Ma’lik Richmond were arrested on Aug. 22 in connection with the alleged rape, Deadspin previously reported. Months later, exactly what happened that night is still unclear. Few witnesses have come forward to discuss what happened to the unknown girl, who alleges she was assaulted and photographed by athletes from Steubenville High.
In the newly released video, a male, identified by a number of media outlets as former Steubenville High School student and baseball player Michael Nodianos, seems to talk about an instance of rape and other disturbing events surrounding the incident."
Allegedly, according to RawStory.com, the town and even officers were trying to silence the rape victim through bullying and branding her with a Scarlet Letter. Shame on them. Also shame on the other students who saw this behavior happen and allowed it to happen following along like cows in a herd. The same goes for the parents who raised these boys to have absolutely no drop of respect for women. This hierarchy of athletes being babied in school while others suffer is ridiculous. Any people wander why there are children committing suicides and mass murders?
The only people in this story who deserves one ounce of respect is the victim for doing the right thing and hopefully stopping these beasts from hurting anyone else. It takes an enormous amount of courage especially after such a traumatic event. It may be a blessing or a curse that she was drugged. The other hero in this story is the hacker who brought the video and pictures to life after others tried to stifle the truth. We need more Knights like you.
