Ohio City Theatre Project is hosting “Summer Arts 2014” with support from the Char and Chuck Fowler Family Foundation and generous individual donors. Because of this tremendous support, the group is able to offer free tuition to their “Children’s Puppet and Mask Workshop”.

Although the workshop actually began on Monday, June 23 there are still some spaces open that they would like to fill. If you know of a young person who would love to create puppets and masks as well as stories to go along with them please pass this on to them…but hurry!

Last year OCTP held its first ever Summer Arts program with some of last year’s participants returning again this year. This summer, Ohio City Theater Program is partnering with the Michael J. Zone Recreation Center where the classes will be held as well as the staging of the final performance. Daniel McNamara will be on hand to guide the students in making exciting puppets and masks and Brittany Gaul will be leading the acting classes where students are encouraged to create and perform original stories. Assisting will be the bright and talented Nate Miller and Shayla Gordon.

Classes are held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (there will be no classes on July 5, 2014). Classes will continue through July 26, 2014.

There are also plans for an optional field trip to see the play “The Floating Dolls” that is being performed at Talespinner Children’s Theatre on Saturday, June 28 at 1:00 p.m. (2:00 p.m. show)

To register, please call the Michael J. Zone Recreation Center at (216) 664-3373 or stop by the front desk at 6301 Lorain Avenue in Cleveland.
