Ronald Phillips of Akron, Ohio had been found guilty of killing three-year-old Sheila Marie Evans in 1993 and now, the time has finally come to lay this tragic saga to rest.
As of Monday, if things go the way the court has sentence him, he will have ten days to get his affairs in order as the state of Ohio is going to be giving him what has recently been reported as an “untried 2-drug lethal injection”.
Apparently the manufacturer of pentobarbital has made executions off-limits for its use so the state will custom a mix of midazolam and hydromorphone to inject into Phillips on November 14th.
Phillips and Sheila’s mother, Fae Evans, were both found guilty of this baby’s tragic death.
Because Evans played a role in her daughter’s death, she was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment.
Evans had been serving time in the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville before her death of cancer in 2008. She had petitioned the court for early release because she had terminal cancer; but Summit County prosecutors had fought against it.

What had been done to this child for days, continuously, were so horrific at the hands of Phillips, then 19, and considering this poor baby’s mother did nothing to stop it…it was general consensus at the time that prosecutors made the right choice.
In May of 2008, when asked about Fae Evans getting early release, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh had told Fox News, “Ronald Phillips had violently beaten Sheila on a Friday night. Had raped her. The child had severe internal injuries. She was vomiting all weekend. She had diarrhea all weekend. Ultimately, when she died, they discovered that her intestines had gangrene that had set in."
A grim, horrible reminder of what had been done to the baby girl.
Now, Phillips is trying to get out of his set death penalty and it is believed his lawyers are going to earn every dime they are receiving to try get their client out of this.
These next ten days are going to be full of news that Phillips had once been abused when he’d been younger and how prosecutors are finding it hard to believe considering defense had never brought it up before.
Excuses will abound and some will ignore what this man had done to one of Ohio’s innocent. They will ignore how much his life in prison would cost taxpayers, will say they are against the death penalty and turn it into something political or; will fight for him because it is their job as lawyers and in the mix of it all:
Few will admit Phillips, an adult who had choices then and now, deserves everything he is getting for the hurt, terror and horror he caused that sweet little baby before her poor body had to give up.
