September 21, 2013 Buckeye Brewing Company started down the path that many people having been waiting..... canned craft beer! The initial offering could be out in local Heinen's Stores as early as Friday September 27th. Brewmaster, Garin Wright, said the beer is a special limited release brewed specially for Cleveland Beer Week. The 16oz cans will be in a 4-pack and priced around $10.99. The beer itself is a classic German Munich-Helles. While visiting the brewery during the inaugural canning, I had the pleasure to preview/taste the beer. To style, this is a very drinkable beer that comes in between 5&6% ABV. The malt notes are perfectly balanced to give the right amount flavor while still being refreshing. Kudos to Buckeye Brewing for this great brew! Lets keep our fingers crossed that they will consider making this a mainstay.
Limited draft opportunities will be available. Primarily, the plans are for Brewzilla event during Cleveland Beer Week and Buckeye Beer Engine in Lakewood
The canning revolution is being brought to us by Buckeye Mobile Canning, operated by Dan Blatt. Dan is bring this novel concept to Ohio from his native Colorado. There, many of the craft brewers have opted to contract out their canning rather than spending huge sums of money on their own canning line. After canning Buckeye Brewing's Cleveland Beer Week beer, he is headed to Columbus to Elevator Brewing. Look for other brands coming soon.
