Oh the places you will go

Now, that’s enough about armor and races. There is another type of mod coveted by gamers for Skyrim. Those are the landmass mods. Providing new and beautiful places to explore and rule. Below are some of the most noted ones.

From mod makers on the Nexus comes the small, yet spectacular looking city called Riverhelm. It’s built into what looks like the sloping sides of a mountain pass, using great textures and structures to bring this keep to life. In it, the player can become the ruler of the castle, control expenditures, pay warriors to fight on his or her behalf and even employ a jester to make merry at court.

‘Lakeside Hideaway’ is a home based mod that gives the player a place to rest in a hidden lake alcove that provides for any need. There’s a stable for a horse, plenty of storage containers, and even a new dog to keep him or her company.

The Oblivion Realms mod provides a little blast from the past. The player can actually travel to small areas of Oblivion through gates and fight off the daedra that lurk within. The sky is the classic red; the structures are tall and imposing, daring the Dovahkin to scale them. Then there are the denizens. Some of them are certainly tough, able to take down an NPC or mortal horse in about two to three hits. The daedra can use swarm tactics and try to take the player down in a group and with how hard they hit, it’s difficult.

Newly released is the Skyrim School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Yes, the Harry Potter reference is certainly there. The school is high on a mountain pass and contains NPCs with some recognizable names. The gates are of dwemer make, the textures of aged stone and high color ceiling make for an intriguing atmosphere. The professors of the school can teach the spells they know to Dovahkin or the spell books can be purchased to the same effect. Each professor has their own classroom and spell roster so visiting each is a good idea. There is a Quiditch field though unfortunately little spell casters can’t play on it yet.

More mods are being made every day so search around for those that add just the right place or moment.
