King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Bin Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Saud (you actually think I could make this name up!!!), the current Saudi King and the head of the House of Saud, recently unveiled the Ghazal 1, a concept sports utility vehicle designed by students at King Saud University in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
The king has given the local manufacturers of the all-terrain vehicle the green light to proceed with producing out 20,000 units a year.
The Ghazal 1 is a Mercedes-Benz G class-based SUV, and two Italian automotive firms helped in the design and manufacture of the vehicle. The beefy ute which made its first appearance at this year's Geneva Motor Show was made to withstand the desert climates of the Gulf countries. The project for the car, which is named after the Arabian gazelle, would require a 500-million-dollar investment, according to unofficial estimates.
Reportedly, the Saudi vehicle will be twenty percent cheaper than similar models on the market. As to when the vehicle will arrive on the scene, depends on supply and demand but word on the street is that, it will be available for sale in the Gulf within three years.
So far there is no information available as to the vehicle's specs. But...stay tuned.

add 5 tons of steel for mine protection and you'd have a start.
LOOKS VERY OLD LOOKING
So they're going to take a Mercedes-Benz G class-based SUV, make some alterations to it, and then call it Ghazal. Is that the premise?
Okay, I got a new phone that I am developing that I need to sell to the Saudi's. I call it an iPhone, no, no I mean a jPhone. Yeah, yeah jPhone that's the ticket...
