Ogre Slumlord from 'Gatecrash' revealed (Photos)

Ogre Slumlord is one of the newest "Magic: The Gathering" cards spoiled from Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert expansion set "Gatecrash." Revealed in an article on Jan. 16, 2013 published at MagicBlogs.de, Ogre Slumlord can create a deadly horde of rats that'll kill any of your opponent's creatures they bite.

Creature - Ogre Rogue (Rare)
Whenever another nontoken creature dies, you may put a 1/1 black Rat creature token onto the battlefield.
Rats you control have deathtouch.

Ogre Slumlord's ability helps the disease-ridden rats it produces propagate whenever they kill another nontoken creature. Unless your opponent throws a Searing Spear or another removal spell at it, you'll be able to hold off their advance of ground attackers.

To bring Ogre Slumlord online you'll need a few nontoken creatures to die first. Killing Wave has the potential to gather a voracious horde of deathtouch rats: You only need to pay to keep your Ogre Slumlord alive. Launch Party, Bone Splinters, Altar's Reap, and Barter in Blood are four other options.

An Orzhov-based deck with Skirsdag Flayer can sacrifice tokens from Thraben Doomsayer to destroy your opponent's largest threat and create a rat at the same time.

Arms Dealer can also potentially take out an opponent's threat while making two rats at once. Hellhole Flailer and Falkenrath Aristocrat are two other aggressive Rakdos options.

Going green for Golgari gives access to Korozda Guildmage and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.

If you lean more to the Dimir guild, Grimgrin, Corpse-Born has you covered.

How will you use Ogre Slumlord?
